Note:
Administrator permissions are required to access the Password
Policy form.
On the Password Policy form, establish user password parameters, such as minimum length, capitalization requirements, numeric and special character usage, etc. Include a Regular Expression to add custom parameters to your password policy.
Tip: The most secure passwords contain more than seven characters
and have a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special
characters, such as the @ or # symbols. At the very least, it is highly
recommended that you define a minimum password length.
The password policy is enforced for user login accounts established with the Application Authentication method. Click the Enforce Password Policy check box on the User Manager form for each user login account subject to the policy.
To
establish a password policy
Click Administration > Password Policy on the Navigation Tree.
Enter the minimum number of characters required for the password in the Minimum Length field.
Enter the maximum number of days the password is valid in the Password Expires Every field. If the field is left blank, the password will never expire.
Select one or more of the following options:
Password Must Have Upper and Lower Case Letters
Password Must Contain at Least One Digit
New Password Must be Different Than Current Password
Enter a Regular Expression to add custom parameters to your password policy.
Enter the number of days a user will be prevented from re-using a previous password in the Maintain password history and prevent reuse for field. For example, when "365' days is entered, a user will not be able to re-use a password for a year.
Click Save.
