Defining Properties

In the Properties section on the Facility Type form, define properties about a facility type for use in applicability analyses, reports, or recordkeeping. Properties are fixed characteristics of the facility, which may include the waste storage capacity, adsorbent replacement criteria, type of operation, or number of vents. Properties validated on the Process Unit Properties form are available for selection on the Facility Type form.

For each property, enter the facility type's value. If the result is a number, enter the value and select the appropriate unit of measure. The unit of measure list will only contain units of the same unit type as the property's base unit (e.g., Temperature, Density, or Length) and for which there is conversion information. For example, if the property is Average Wind Speed, the Unit Type is Velocity, and the base unit of measure is ft/sec; you will only be able to change the unit to mph, km/hr, m/s, or another unit that has conversion information to ft/sec.

The unit properties and the values assigned can be viewed in the Facility Type Properties section on the Compliance Scenario form to help you determine if a particular requirement applies to the facility.

Adding SCC Codes

In the SCC Codes section on the Facility Type form, assign SCC codes to facility types. SCC codes allow you to group sources based on type and industry for reporting and accounting. Before beginning, make sure a list of codes has been validated on the SCC Codes form.

To add SCC codes

  1. Locate your facility type on the Facility Types list, click the link to open the Facility Type form, and expand the SCC Codes section when necessary.

  2. Select the applicable Available SCC Codes and click Add to assign the codes to the facility type.

If an SCC code is not listed, click Edit SCC Code List and add it. To unassign an SCC code, select the code and click Remove.

  3. Click the Save button on the form.

Assigning Compliance Categories

In the Compliance Categories section on the Facility Types form, associate facility types with logical groups of regulations and policies, called compliance categories. The Compliance Manager module uses the association to determine which regulations and policies potentially apply to a facility type for an applicability analysis. Compliance categories can encompass equipment type, process, or another factor. Your regulatory experts should guide you when you assign process units to compliance categories to ensure that the categories are used consistently.

To assign compliance categories

  1. Locate your facility type on the Facility Types list, click the link to open the Facility Type form.

  2. Expand the Compliance Categories section when necessary, and do the following:
