Activities

On the Activities form, specify the types of activities that go on in your plant. Typical activities are processes such as the making of products or the use of a specific fuel. During each activity, a particular chemical or process stream will pass through a series of components that are part of a process line. The Essential software is shipped with a default activity called "Primary". Use this default activity only if one activity occurs at your facility.

For each activity, equivalent entries in different languages can be defined. For example, a "Primary" activity in Spanish, "Primario", could be specified. When localization has been implemented, the Culture setting assigned to a user determines which value is displayed in field lists on Essential forms. Enter the corresponding activities and associate each one with the appropriate language in the Language Dependent Activities section.

Assign the activities and corresponding chemicals or process streams to each component at your facility on the Tag form. When setting up production schedules, select an activity to identify the process stream for the fugitive emissions calculations that apply over a date range.

Note: You can also globally assign materials and activities using the Global Materials form.

To enter activities

1. Click Data Entry > Validation > Activities in the Navigation Tree.
   
   The Activities list appears.

2. Click the New button.
   
   The Activities form is displayed.

3. Enter an Activity and a corresponding Description.

4. Expand the Language Dependent Activities section, when necessary, to add the activity in different languages. Otherwise, skip to step 8.

5. Click Add Language Value and select a Language from the list.

6. Enter the Activity for the language selected and click OK.
   
   The translation information is displayed as a line item in the Language Dependent Activities section. Edit existing translation information using the buttons adjacent to the line item.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to add other language translations.

8. Click the Save button on the form.

9. Repeat steps 2 through 8 to add other activities.
