Leak Sources

On the Leak Source form, review the list of leak sources that was shipped with Essential. For example, a "Flange" may be a leak source. Leak sources can be printed on a report, such as the Crew Worksheet, to help maintenance personnel prepare for repairing a component. They can also be imported into the system from a datalogger if your datalogger can record this information along with the instrument readings.

If the list of leak sources shipped with the software is not complete, enter additional ones. Each leak source must also be assigned a Datalogger Code (up to 3 characters). The code is needed for the Essential FEMS module to interact with a datalogger because most dataloggers can only accept short fields. The longer leak source name will be used in the software.  

For each leak source, equivalent entries in different languages can be defined. For example, a "Pump" source in Spanish, "Bomba", could be specified. When localization has been implemented, the Culture setting assigned to a user determines which value is displayed in field lists on Essential forms. Enter the corresponding leak sources and associate each one with the appropriate language in the Language Dependent Leak Source section.

Assign the applicable leak source to a leaking component on the Monitoring Data form.

To enter leak sources

  1. Click Data Entry > Validation > Leak Sources in the Navigation Tree.

    The Leak Sources list appears.

  2. Click the New button.

    The Leak Source form is displayed.

  3. Enter the Leak Source.

  4. Enter a Datalogger Code (maximum 3 characters) that represents the leak source.

  5. Type a Description.

  6. Expand the Language Dependent Leak Source section, when necessary, to add the source in different languages. Otherwise, skip to step 10.

  7. Click Add Language Value and select a Language from the list.

  8. Enter the Leak Source for the language selected and click OK.

    The translation information is displayed as a line item in the Language Dependent Leak Source section. Edit existing translation information using the buttons adjacent to the line item.

  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to add other language translations.

  10. Click the Save button on the form.

  11. Repeat steps 2 through 10 to add other leak sources.
