Disposing a Container On-site

The Container Disposal form is used to dispose a container at the facility where the container resides. Specify the entity, disposal system, and waste management method for the disposal, along with the disposal start and end dates to document the period during which the container was disposed. Include a description to maintain a concise record of your container disposal. An example of a description is "Used East Area Incinerator to dispose Containers 098 and 099". The container will be removed from the selected disposal system's inventory.

The Container Disposal form is accessed via the Waste Disposal System form. Click the Dispose Container link in the Container Disposal section on the Waste Disposal System form. Each saved container disposal record is displayed as a line item in the Container Disposal section where the records can be edited and a history of disposals is maintained. Standard search capabilities are available to locate a specific container or group of containers for review or editing.

Tip:  To ship a container off-site and document the receiving facility disposal method, use the Shipment Line form. Click here for more information on using a shipment to dispose the container.

Disposing Bulk Waste Materials On-site

The Bulk Waste Disposal form is used to dispose waste materials at the entity where the materials reside. You can document material generation and subsequent disposal in one step. Specify a process unit or point of generation, or both, for the waste material origin:

Dispose from Process Unit – A process unit at your entity can be designated as many different types, such as a source, control device, waste disposal system, or waste storage area. To be available for bulk waste disposals, the process unit must be assigned Waste Module Access in the Type section on the Process Unit form.

Dispose from Point of Generation – A point of generation is where a waste originates. Examples of points of generation are the "maintenance shop" or the "assembly line".

After a material is disposed, its material inventory is decreased by the amount that was disposed, except when the origin is a point of generation. No material inventory changes occur for the generating process unit when a material’s origin is a point of generation. To include the most detail possible when disposing from generation, select a process unit and a point of generation. A fixed waste tank (process unit) that has an exit valve (point of generation) is an example of a process unit and a point of generation specified together.

The Bulk Waste Disposal form is accessed via the Waste Disposal System form. Click the Dispose Waste link in the Bulk Waste Disposal section. Each saved waste disposal record is displayed as a line item in the Bulk Waste Disposal section where the records can be edited and a history of disposals is maintained. Standard search capabilities are available to locate a specific waste material or group of materials for review or editing.

Note:  Default results must be defined for a material waste's physical property Bulk Density when the waste is added to an on-site waste disposal system with a volume units of measure, e.g., gallons. Define Bulk Density result values in the Material Composition and Properties section on the Waste Profile or Material form. Refer to Composition and Properties for additional information.
